Vol.3-Chapter 43 – San Wu

“It’s me. Please don’t be nervous. I’m just a passerby who was attracted by the light released by your fight just now.”

The bald young man didn’t expect to laugh out loud due to how funny the little monkey looked. He slowly walked out in embarrassment. He wasn’t moving very carefully because he was afraid that Zhao Jiuge might make a move against him due to a misunderstanding. He feared that his original plan would change because of this.

When this bald young man walked out, Zhao Jiuge and Pei Su Su finally got a good look at him. Both of their eyes shined.

This young man around 17 or 18 years old was bald, but there was no scar on his head. No one would associate him with a monk, given his face, but the clothes he wore gave away his identity.

The bald young man had no other items on him. The only thing he had was a string of quaint buddhist beads around his wrist.

Looking at this bald young man, Zhao Jiuge and Pei Su Su both let out sighs of relief. They were worried about more trouble coming their way. However, when they saw this little monk who even looked a bit embarrassed, they didn’t see any danger at all.

The bald young man really didn’t have any ill intent. He had accidently sensed Zhao Jiuge using the Divine Sanskrit Body and became curious on how their temple’s spell had leaked.

Seeing Zhao Jiuge and Pei Su Su still staring at him, he became even more embarrassed. He looked at the two of them while turning the buddhist beads in his hand and smiled. “Let me introduce myself. My monk name is San Wu .”

After he finished speaking, the little monk named San Wu quietly looked at the two of them. This was the first time he had interacted with other people beside his fellow brothers and teachers at the temple, so he couldn’t help but feel a bit shy.

Pei Su Su was about to ask about this bald monk. After all, it was best to be on guard. Although he didn’t look evil, one could never be too sure. Only cultivators would appear in the mountains late at night; normal people would not come here. However, before she could ask, this young man actually introduced himself.

Zhao Jiuge’s eyes widened and exclaimed, “No tears during great sorrow, no words while comprehending, and no sound while laughing.”

While Zhao Jiuge was shocked, the bald young man was even more shocked. “How do you know the meaning of my monk name? I became an orphan at an early age and was picked up by my teacher, who gave me this name. This is the first time I left the temple.”

Hearing the monk named San Wu say this, Zhao Jiuge was a little moved and became silent. They had similar lives, so San Wu resonated with him.

Seeing Zhao Jiuge’s expression change slightly, San Wu glanced at Pei Su Su. Then he looked at Zhao Jiuge and asked, “What’s wrong?”

Zhao Jiuge shook his head, indicating that nothing was wrong. “I’m also an orphan. What sect is your teacher from? Why are you alone here in the wilderness?”

Through San Wu’s words and appearance, Zhao Jiuge felt that his words were credible. He guessed that San Wu was a disciple who had come out to train. There were countless sects across the 13 provinces, and there was no shortage of those that belonged to the Buddhist Faction.

Pei Su Su frowned slightly and coldly looked at San Wu. She felt like something was wrong but couldn’t figure out what.

“It\'s not a famous place, so you’ve certainly never heard of it. The entire temple only has me, my teacher, and a few of my junior brothers. We only cultivate some shallow methods. Today, I was rushing through the night and felt spirit force fluctuations, so I came to check it out. I didn\'t expect to find two benefactors here. This little monk’s cultivation is low, and I didn’t think such a ferocious spirit beast would roam this area. If you two benefactors don’t mind, how about taking this little monk with you?”

Everything San Wu had said was true, he only concealed the name of his teacher. He had nothing to do and just happened to encounter Zhao Jiuge, who cultivated a spell from his temple. He wanted to find out the truth of his matter and took this chance to travel with them.

Zhao Jiuge believed San Wu’s words and origin. He didn’t really care about it, but when San Wu brought up coming with them, he suddenly found it difficult to respond. He looked toward Pei Su Su to get her opinion.

Pei Su Su shrugged her shoulders to indicate Zhao Jiuge could make the decision. She casually said, “I don’t mind, but you don’t even know where we are going, yet you say you want to follow us?”

Pei Su Su still had some doubt in her heart. However, given her own cultivation and seeing how this youth didn’t give off a strong aura, she wasn’t too worried. Even if San Wu had ill intent, he wouldn’t be able to do anything.

San Wu slightly bowed and said, “This little monk comes and goes. Since we met by fate, won’t it be better for us to travel together?”

Pei Su Su couldn’t help but smile and say, “Even the way you speak is interesting. Since traveling is very boring, this will make it more fun.”

“I still haven’t asked my two fellow benefactors’ names yet. It looks like both of you are cultivators.” Seeing that both of them were pretty easygoing, San Wu let out a sigh of relief.

“Mysterious Heaven Sword Sect, Zhao Jiuge.”

Zhao Jiuge softly replied. He was laying low, so he wasn’t going to show off his identity as the Chief Head Disciple.

San Wu was originally smiling, but when he heard these words, he was startled for a moment. However, he saw the sword behind Zhao Jiuge and seemed to understand something.

Seeing the change in San Wu’s expression, Zhao Jiuge couldn’t help but frown and ask, “What’s wrong?”

San Wu quickly shook his head to indicate nothing was wrong. He looked toward Pei Su Su and asked, “Then, benefactor, which sect are you from?” However, he looked meaningfully at Pei Su Su.

“Pei Su Su.”

Pei Su Su said with a playful tone. She didn’t say her identity, only her name. Forget San Wu, she hadn’t even told Zhao Jiuge her identity. She had said that only after they finished training would she take him back to the sect to meet her father.

Then Pei Su Su raised her chin and smiled. “Don’t you monks say that women are just pink skeletons in your eyes? Isn’t it impolite to chase the identity of a pink skeleton?”

San Wu was startled and shocked speechless. He stared at Pei Su Su and was also shocked by the identities of the two of them. The Mysterious Heaven Sword Sect’s Zhao Jiuge, the Chief Head Disciple of the Mysterious Heaven Sword Sect. After the Seven Holy Land Exchange, he already knew about Zhao Jiuge. As for Pei Su Su, although he didn’t know who she was, both Pei Songtao and Pei Su Su shared the same family name, so they had to be close. Pei Su Su also knew Pei Songtao’s famous Black Flame Divine Spell, so he had a good idea of who she was.

However, San Wu couldn’t understand how the two of them would end up together. There were too many questions in his mind right now. How did Zhao Jiuge know a spell that only a few people in his temple were allowed to learn? Did Zhao Jiuge know about Pei Su Su’s real identity? Why were the two of them together?

Zhao Jiuge looked at the speechless San Wu and couldn’t help but smile. “Let’s go. It\'s late at night, so we should rest. We’ll be traveling early in the morning.”

Although Pei Su Su was very tender toward him, she was still rather feisty toward outsiders. Sometimes, Zhao Jiuge felt like he owed her and like he wasn’t worthy of how well she treated him.

The campfire in the dilapidated temple had enough dried wood, so its flames were still filled with life and could bring a hint of warmth in the cold night.

After devouring the Tiger Flood Dragon’s inner core, Little Black fell asleep again. Zhao Jiuge really admired Little Black, but he also found a problem. When Little Black absorbed the spring last time, he also reacted the same way. After absorbing a large amount of spirit force, he would sleep.

Zhao Jiuge couldn’t understand why. He sat down next to the fire, wanting to take advantage of the few hours left before dawn to cultivate a bit and heal the injuries on his hands even though they weren\'t serious.

Pei Su Su sat down next to Zhao Jiuge, and her beautiful eyes occasionally looked at San Wu. For some reason, she had a strange feeling about the little monk. It was as if his gaze toward her was different from when he looked at Zhao Jiuge—there seemed to be a hint of disgust.

San Wu’s expression was peaceful, and he sat down a distance away from the two of them. Like Pei Su Su, he closed his eyes but didn’t cultivate. This aura was completely withdrawn so it was impossible to see how deep his cultivation was.

The Tiger Flood Dragon’s corpse just laid there. Without the inner core, it had no value left because the body had been damaged by Pei Su Su. Everything calmed down once more with only the sound of the crackling of the fire. It was as if nothing had happened at all.

The three of them had just met but no longer talked as the night quietly went down. Each of them was busy with their own matters.

Zhao Jiuge had Pei Su Su around, so he peacefully began to cultivate. San Wu had his eyes closed and was breathing evenly; it was unknown what he was doing.

Pei Su Su occasionally looked down, thinking about something. She thought about how she met Zhao Jiuge and everything that had led up to today. She then looked up at the blockhead’s face and then at San Wu.

However, she vaguely felt an inexplicable sense of uneasiness.

1. His name means lacking three key attributes or at least one of them.
