The Assassin's Enemy Lover

Chapter 355

He rubbed his lips in frustration before taking a step back trying to restrain his anger.

“And you are supposedly interested in becoming a part of my family?... Not going to happen. I won’t let that happen... You need someone to teach you respect. Zi Xingxi did a very shitty job,” he said only for Zi Han to turn around and lunge toward him.

It took everything within Zi Han to stop himself from blowing up but the words the Marshal said struck him where it hurt the most.

Not only did the man criticize his mother, but he also accused him of not having any feelings for Yi Chen and jeopardizing his lover’s future which hurt so much that he couldn’t think straight.

It was exactly because he couldn’t think straight that he did the unthinkable. He actually attacked the Marshal, a man who had ten times the experience than he did.

This became very much apparent when Zi Han was struck by a powerful force before he could even reach the Marshal. With a loud bam, Zi Han was struck and his body flew across the grass field.

He rolled on the ground three times before he steadied himself in a half kneeling posture.

His eyes glimmered with a touch of fury as he clutched the grass and soil on the ground in his clenched fist.

.....

His body trembled in anger with the veins on his temple throbbing like they were on the verge of bursting. A faint red figure of a giant phoenix hovered behind him screeching in anger like someone had plucked its feathers.

The Marshal who was breathing heavily engaged his mental power and a three headed serpent twice the size of Zi Han’s phoenix appeared.

“Your father couldn’t be here to teach you some respect. For the sake of our old friendship I will teach you on his behalf,” said the Marshal his eyes bloody and maniacal.

Zi Han gritted his teeth before lunging forward his steps light but fast. He swung his fist at the Marshal but Marshal Yi tightly grabbed his arm and with a sly grin he flung him away.

Zi Han felt an inexplicable pain when his arm was grabbed but he could care less right now. He managed to break his momentum in time before his back hit a boulder.

He wiped the dirt off his lips with the back of his hand and gathered all his strength before attacking again.

This time the Marshal let him try. Zi Han attacked the man relentlessly with a couple of near misses on the Marshal’s part but no matter how hard he tried Zi Han couldn’t even touch a single wisp of hair on the Marshal’s head.

After being on the defensive for so long the Marshal suddenly changed tactics and with a loud resounding slap, Zi Han was struck to the ground forming a dent in the dirt where he landed.

Zi Han saw black spots as he lay there with his hand on his burning cheek from the slap just now. In a daze, he struggled to get up but he failed.

The Marshal rubbed his palm with an air of indifference surrounding him. “With your kind of attitude, I thought you were invincible... I thought you were a lawless god who could do whatever he pleases whenever he pleases. Turns out you are just a small insignificant boy with power... Get u-,” he said but before he could even finish his sentence Zi Han swung his leg at him and almost swept the man off his feet.

The Marshal flipped his body back before steadying his feet and grabbed Zi Han’s knuckles that were a few inches from his face.

“Zi Han. You don’t love my son. He is just an accessory to you just like Igneous,” said Marshal Yi tightening his grip on Zi Han’s hand. Small cracking sounds could be heard accompanied by Zi Han’s shallow breathing as he bit his lips trying not to cry out in pain.

“You only enjoy his company and attention. I won’t allow you to further sink your claws into his flesh. Let him go before I make you,” he said and with a resounding crack, he broke Zi Han’s fingers.

Zi Han couldn’t stand the agonizing pain thus he grunted in despair and beads of cold sweat flowed down his forehead. His body shivering from his agony he breathed in deeply before speaking with great difficulty.

“Ho, how are you going to make me?” asked Zi Han with pain in his voice.

“Like I said before. You do have a sense of responsibility but that isn’t directed at Yi Chen but to your family. I have plenty of evidence, evidence that can bring your family down overnight. With that evidence, I will burn the Bloodgarde to the ground and make sure both your mother and grandfather go into exile never to recover again.”

Zi Han’s eyes grew colder glaring daggers at the Marshal. “But my grandfather is your senior, you can’t,” replied Zi Han calling his bluff but even he could see that Marshal Yi wasn’t joking at all.

“And Yi Chen is my son. Tell me who is more important between the two... huh?” asked the Marshal before shoving him to the ground.

Zi Han half sat up with his other hand supporting the one that had been broken. Marshal Yi crouched down and said, “Come on Zi Han, there is no need to pretend like you are distraught. We both know what choice you are going to make.”

Zi Han felt like he had taken the Executioner’s Blight straight to his heart. He could see it all clearly now. The fog on his mind had cleared and he could see everything now.

Yi Chen was good for him but he wasn’t good for Yi Chen. Ever since they met there was not a single good thing he had done for him. It was Yi Chen who always sacrificed or compromised for him. And what did he do?

He dangled the carrot in front of his face and couldn’t even say the simplest of words most people could say easily. It was only when he almost lost Yi Chen that he said it to him.
