The Assassin's Enemy Lover

Chapter 509

Seeing that he was silent for so long Zi Han smirked slyly before saying, “Still aren’t going to apologise?”

The security team leader calmed his heart before saying, “I am sorry little... young sir for offending you,” pausing in between when he realised he was addressing a tiny alien creature. What the fuck was even that?

“Apology not accepted,” said Zi Han his expression changing drastically before he walked away. Was he unnecessarily making it difficult for the man who was just trying to do his job? Maybe but he really didn’t like guns pointed at him, especially after all he had been through.

Yi Zhen expected as much. Zi Han wouldn’t be Zi Xingxi’s son if he was good tempered.

He patted the security team leader on his shoulder twice before following after Zi Han. He wanted to ask him why he was leading the way when he didn’t know where they were going but he wasn’t surprised much when he saw that Zi Han knew where he was going. Of course, he knew where he was going. With Chronos in his possession, he knew every inch of this warship.

When they reached the captain’s office, Zi Han made himself comfortable sitting with his leg crossed over his thigh and his arms spread on the couch’s backrest.

“So Mr. Yi, what would you like us to discuss,” he said and Yi Zhen sighed deeply before asking,

“Would you like anything to drink? I have whiskey and rum here... the good kind.”

.....

He honestly thought he could coax him with good liquor. How different could Zi Feiji’s grandson be from Zi Feiji, right? He must have the same expensive tastes.

Recalling what he drank last night, Zi Han couldn’t help but shiver subconsciously. That nasty stuff, he was never going to touch it again.

“Not unless you are trying to kill me,” said Zi Han his fingers pressing into his calf struggling not to recall that nasty taste. “I am good thanks,” he said and Yi Zhen walked over with a crystal glass quarter filled with brown liquor and a spherical ball of ice. On the other hand, he had a case similar to the one his mother had but with subtle differences.

He opened it and took out a cigar. With a soft click, he cut off the closed head before handing it to Zi Han.

Zi Han glanced at the cigar for a while before looking at Yi Zhen. Sensing his hesitation Yi Zhen urged him to take it and Zi Han finally reached out to take it.

He lowered his head and lit it with his lighter before showing a content expression. Yi Zhen smiled slightly thinking that it wasn’t Zi Feiji’s taste he inherited but Zi Xingxi’s. He had the right idea just the wrong method.

He leaned back into his seat and lazily swelled the crystal glass with an undiscernible expression. “I know any apology is pointless but I still want to say it. It’s no secret that I didn’t like you,” he said and Zi Han chuckled as he puffed a wisp of some smoke from his lips.

“What a way to start... Why may I ask? Why don’t you like me? Is it my family name or is it just my face?” asked Zi Han with an amused look on his face.

Yi Zhen raised his head and their two gazes met before he averted his gaze abruptly. “You overlooked one word. I didn’t say don’t, I said didn’t. I didn’t like you before but not anymore,” he said and Zi Han narrowed his eyes before saying,

“When was it that you changed your mind? Was it after I saved your son?” dealing a blow with no scruples.

Yi Zhen didn’t know when exactly he stopped disliking Zi Han but it was definitely before Zi Han went to find Yi Chen. Maybe it was the time when he saw his son tear him apart all to force him to retire early.

His son who never disobeyed him went as far as betraying him and forcing him to retire. He was saddened by it but he also understood then the significance of Zi Han. The roots had already grown deep and couldn’t be removed. His son was already in love with Zi Han and there was nothing he could do to reverse the situation.

“Maybe... but I realised I was wrong to separate you in the first place. There was nothing I could do that could reverse the situation. I had to accept the fact that my son is in love with you. Criminal or not, he loves you,” he said before taking a good sip.

Zi Han pinched the cigar in his arms tightly suppressing the emotions threatening to burst forth. “So if I was a girl would you have accepted me?” he asked and Yi Zhen shook his head,

“Gender wasn’t as important as your family background. He could have been with any other boy and I would have accepted it.”

“Good to know. It’s a good thing the Yi Family is indebted to me otherwise you would still treat me like shit,” said Zi Han ready to leave. He didn’t come here to be insulted. He took another long drag before putting the lit cigar down in the ashtray.

Seeing that he was standing up to leave, Yi Zhen glanced at him and said, “Sit... please.”

Zi Han clenched his jaw and sat down his eyes fuming.

“We have our differences and I get that. What I have done to you time and time again is inexcusable. An apology won’t mean much to you but I will try my best to make up for it. Since we are about to be family can you give me a chance to fix things,” he said sounding very sincere.

Yi Zhen honestly thought that Zi Han would continue to make it difficult for him but he suddenly showed a sly smile and Yi Zhen had a very very bad premonition.

“You want to show your sincerity, right? Then I have a very small favour to ask. This shouldn’t be difficult for you... I want every piece of evidence you have on the Bloodgarde. I want it all and all the backups gone. I promise after that I will treat you like my father-in-law and everything in the past will all be forgiven... How is that, uncle? Are you willing,” he said with a slight smile at the corner of his lips.

Yi Zhen, “!!!”

‘Checkmate,’ said Zi Han internally.
